What will be the changes in the Golden Visa Program in Portugal?
The year 2023 surprised many of us with the news that the Golden Visa program in Portugal would be ending permanently and was estimated to conclude on June 30, 2023. These changes were part of the "Mais Habitação" initiative in Portugal.
However, recent developments indicate that certain investments will still be eligible for the Golden Visa. A new proposal has been introduced to amend and revise the program. It is anticipated that the following investment areas will remain eligible:
✅ Investment Funds and Venture Capital Funds
✅ Companies and Job Creation
✅ Research Activities
✅ Artistic Production
However, capital transfer and real estate acquisition will no longer qualify for the Golden Visa program.
An official implementation date and terms for these changes are yet to be confirmed, but it is estimated to be around July 19, 2023.
